This weekend I was excited to go to York and visit the York art gallery for the first time. The permanent collection was impressive with works by Walter Sickert, Paul Nash, Harold Gilman, Keith Vaughan and much more. I also visited the Bloomsbury exhibition https://www.yorkartgallery.org.uk/exhibition/beyond-bloomsbury-life-love-and-legacy/. Such an interesting exhibition and the works by Vanessa Bell were incredible. The narrative was fascinating – the group were so interlinked with the influential thinkers of the day from a range of disciplines eg Lytton Strachey, John Maynard Keynes and many others.
Closer to home, I have been playing with colour and looking at the work of Kandinsky and Gabriella Munter. i had done a series of sketches of Lichfield cathedral and worked one of these up into a chromatic take on the famous spires. Lichfield Cathedral.
