I’m really thrilled to have my painting ‘My View is Blocked’ accepted for the latest RBSA exhibition in Birmingham. Every year the Friends organise an exhibition and it’s always shown in January. This is the third time I’ve been accepted so thank you RBSA. Here’s my piece; the exhibition shows until the first week in February. My View is Blocked.
January is upon us. Xmas came and went with a lot of bugs in our household. I was struck down on Xmas Day – I still managed to cook the turkey though. My gift highlight was ‘The Painters Quarry’ by Peter Prendergast. I love Peters work and his influences overlap strongly with mine; Roualt, Kossoff and Bomberg in particular. Check out his Bethesda quarry painting. I share a Welsh mining heritage with him.
January is a time when I need to apply for lots of exhibitions. . It’s a bit tedious and I’ve always a bit disorganised about paperwork et al. Still I’m getting there.
This week I’m getting going with some new work, some inspired by the Peak District and also some interiors. I love having creative ideas and starting new work – slightly less good at finishing pieces though!
Here’s a piece I’m working on. It was inspired by a stay in the Peak District with some girlfriends in beautiful Hognaston. Make sure you visit the Red Lion.
