Thank you so much Banks Mill Studios

What a weekend! Thank you so much Banks Mill Studios for hosting such a brilliant Open Studios last weekend. Lots of people came, lots of people said lovely things and lots of people bought things. I met someone who had been taught by Peter Prendergast – I love his work and AI tells me I paint a bit like him! I am honoured by the comparison. He’s really worth checking out. I was also really pleased to meet Kate Stoppard from AirArts again. I was so thrilled that AirArts featured me on their front cover a couple of years ago. I am hoping to make a submission for their next open call. Air Arts promotes the work of local artists with the aim of enhancing the experience and well being of patients and staff at Derby and Burton hospitals. Here’s one I sold!

One of the things that I have really valued about being a member at Banks Mill is that it has allowed me to meet other creatives and people who are emerging artists like me. Some of them of course are a bit younger! So thank you Banks Mill colleagues for the welcome and the connection. Being an artist can be an isolated occupation.

This week I’ve been extremely bored doing my accounts. I am a very disorganised person re filing receipts and invoices etc. It’s taking me ages and I’m feeling grumpy! I’m yearning to get back into the studio and get creating! This is a potential painting I’ve been playing with … a continuation of my Burton Town Hall series.
