Artbourne – a brand new art trail – in Ashbourne is taking place on 30th -31st May. I’m really excited to be taking part. Over 100 artists are exhibiting – it should be fantastic. For those who don’t know it, Ashbourne is the gateway to the Derbyshire Dales and is a stunning market town Lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs plus two galleries – the House of Beer is one of my favourite beer haunts! Avoid the lovely but dangerous Hazy.

On a completely separate note, I had a very exciting adventure in Devon, learning how to paint plein air with Maria Rose ROI. Maria is a fabulous artist and is a huge source of knowledge about painting generally and, plein air painting in particular. I loved the locations, the fun, the learning and the company, We survived the storms, the rain and wind and indeed the lightning. Do NOT use jam jars for dippers .. they smash!
